Holyoke Chicopee Springfield Head Start is a multi-service agency, providing comprehensive programs, services and support to local communities, families and children.  We provide early childhood education, to prepare preschool children for kindergarten, and for life.

We offer traditional part-day early childhood programs at no cost to eligible families. In addition, HCS Head Start offers a full day option for eligible parents working or enrolled at school full time. Fees for the full day option range from sliding scale to full tuition.

We provide family and parent support, and opportunities for families to engage in a child’s education and in the HCS Head Start community. We also provide family and parent programs including cooking, money management, parenting classes, a healthy relationships program, and more.

Since its inception in 1965, Head Start has improved the lives of more than 32 million children and their families.

Early Head Start has helped my child develop better speech and learning skills.

IT’S TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK!We want to THANK all of the Head Start educators in Holyoke, Chicopee, Springfield, and Ludlow. You bring so much to the classroom and to the community, and we are grateful for you every day.Families, do you want to do something special to thank a teacher? Here are some fun and quick ideas!1. Make some bookmarks for a teacher! Use old carboard (maybe cereal boxes!) and draw on the blank side.2. Write a poem for your favorite teacher. It doesn’t even need to rhyme, it just needs to say how much you admire that teacher.3. Draw a chalk pathway to the door of the school, with sweet messages and fun pictures. It will be the first thing the teacher sees when they arrive at school in the morning. ... See MoreSee Less

As a busy caregiver we know it can be hard to do it all, that’s why today, on World Password Day, we wanted to share a couple quick ways to keep your online information more secure.1) Use a Password Manager: This is a game-changer for anyone with more than one password to remember (which is all of us!). A password manager stores all your passwords in one secure place, which means you only need to remember ONE master password.2) Create Strong, Unique Passwords: It SEEMS obvious, but is often overlooked. By not using easily guessable passwords (like "123456" or "password") you’ll be less at risk. It’s recommended to use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols; as well as to use a unique password for each account to prevent a single breach from compromising all your accounts. If it seems like a lot to remember, no worries – see tip #1 😊. 3) Educate Your Family: Teach the kids about the importance of online security. Make it a family practice to discuss what makes a strong password and why we shouldn't share our passwords with others, not even close friends. Also, SUPER important… Be Aware of Phishing Attempts! These can be via email or text so educate yourself and the family. Don’t just click and always verify the authenticity of requests for personal information or passwords, especially if they seem suspicious or too good to be true.Commit to taking these small steps towards securing your online presence… trust us, it WILL be time and effort well spent. ...
